| My five year old aspires to be an RC guy
I bought a Vintage Radio Shack RC Bronco called the Mangler as a starter for my five year old. It had never been used, but was missing the 9.6V battery pack. I intend to do trial and error fitment on Amazon battery packs, but would also like to upgrade and modernize on a budget. This setup has the white clip with a square next to a house shaped plug on the end. Any recommendations for changing out the power pack without frying the electronics?

pictures are always best we are from so many varied backgrounds that descriptions are sometimes confusing lol that said it is relatively easy to change out the battery connectors as well as the connector on the car. so there is lots of hope. good luck |

Shouldn't be too hard to find a battery that fits and might need to change the plug, but might get lucky and find one that is the same. As stated, a pic would help. |

Is it a tamiya plug? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tamiya_connector If it is, changing is recommended, anyway. I think that with 5 years your son may need help changing the battery anyway, so you can use whatever you want; for my son, I have found that he can handle traxxas plugs since he was ~7; he could not handle deans or XT60. Instead of getting 9.6V battery (will be NiMh or NiCd) you might use a LiFe 3S (9.9V), if you can find one of a fitting size (hobbyking might have some). |

yes Tamiya type here are various examples and adapters TowerHobbies.com | Search Results I have to agree with Stefan about the traxxas plugs easy to install, easy to use, high current, relatively safe if I didn't have so many deans type plugs I would use the traxxas. haha |

I got one of these as I use the same batteries in my planes and heli's and they all have deans. TowerHobbies.com | LRP Adapter Wire TAM/JST to US Style Plug |
