Default 2s Lipo

newbie to these custom moded stuff. bought a used Wraith, already has some stuff on it and I have box of other mods/spares... I'm new to the lipo game too. I have some for my slash already. On the slash, I have to tell it to run the voltage cut off. the wraith, the guy sold with his 5000mah 6 cell nimh battery. if I use one of my Lipo, do I have to change it over to make sure cut off is on. I didn't know if I need to do anything or can I just switch back and forth for nimh and lipo at will. Traxxas I have to tell it when I switch...

maybe simpler, how does the car know if I'm using Lipo or not, and do I need to do anything when I switch back and forth from Lipo to nimh.

Depends on your esc.
First u have to check if your esc is able to handle lipo's.
If so most of the esc has to be set up for lipo usage. some have jumper for it some has to be programmed.
So the first needed info is which esc is in the rig

I'll confirm it is an AE5 when I get home. I found a video explaining what you mean. What is drag brake for? other than I assume it slows itself when off the throtle. is 50 or 100 better? I have no idea what mine is at.

All depends on what your doing. Drag brake helps hold the rig on an incline. So if your crawling with it I'd suggest 100 but if your bashing/rock racing I'd put it on 50. Not sure if you can just take that jumper out so there's no drag break that I'm not sure about.

Mine is an AE2. How do you switch mode on that?

Oh you got the ae2. Now your gonna need the castle link. It not expensive all it is is a programming card. The ae2 is just a brushed Version of the brushless castle sidewinder esc. Get the programming card and you'll be good to go bud. You'll have a lot more options for drag brake percentages.

AE2 says cut off is set to on by default from factory. on the AE5, I saw a video from axial that talked about the beeps when you turn it on. 1 beep means nimh, 2 beeps means lipo, then it beeps different to confirm rx sync. Do I assume it is the same beep meaning for my AE2? mine beeps twice when powering up, and then pause and another beep. so is mine still factory set for lipo? I googled and watched videos, but they just say how to program AE2, don't ever say how to tell what your currently set at based on the beeps. I just don't want to kill a brand new Lipo for a rookie mistake.

actually it does the little chime song first, then pause, and 2 more beeps. I assume the chime song means it is synced, and then the 2 beeps means that cut off is turned on. I'll try calling Axial support for quick question. nobody here can confirm.

the AE-2 is a re branded sidewinder, castle link will let you program it and run what you want. just run lipos. i know they are not the cheapest but they are the best thing to run in my humble opinion.

juist search RCC and read read read. you will find what you need.
