Default What is Droop?

The only thing I can think is that the suspension is partially compressed when the crawler is sitting still and that the suspension can extend beyond it's static position to follow the terrain.

When I was trying to crawl the 2 wheel drive Stampede it had more traction if the rear suspension was slightly compressed when sitting at rest.

Is this it or is it something else?

Thanks.

something else........DROOP is just the amount the suspension travels down or DROOPS from its normal ride height

actually not. Droop is not type of suspension but a function of the suspension setup. I run no droop at all at this point.

Suspension droop defined:

RcTek : Model Car Handling - Suspension Droop

Quote:
Suspension droop is defined as the amount of downward suspension movement there is in the wheels of a model car. The base measuring point for this droop can either be the chassis or the ride height of the car.

It is responsible for keeping the wheels in contact (or not!) when the front/rear of the car rises or falls - like going into a corner, braking/accelerating or going over bumps.

More droop obviously allows for more wheel travel to keep the tyres in contact with the track surface, but this is at the cost of agility - the car will not change direction as quickly.
