Default RC Pulling

This is something that I have been toying around the idea with. (Does that make sense?). I am pretty crafty and can build most anything. So I have been thinking of building a truck pulling sled and taking it to the hobby shop and see if anyone would want to enter in some friendly competition with it. We have a lot of guys come in saying that their truck is the bomb. I say put your money where your mouth is......

So here are my questions.......

1) How are you moving the weight? Obviously it is some sort of winch setup. I have seen a few with strings connected to the axle through some pulleys and connected to the box. Some have a nice chain drive setup. What are you guys using? What is reliable? What works?

2) What are the dimensions of the sleds? How Long mainly....

3) How much weight are you pulling? What does the sled weigh? How much weight do you add?

And of course.........

4) Can we see some pics of what ya got?????

For any of you guys in the Ohio/Michigan Area, ya may know me..... Thinking about doin this at HobbyTown in Toledo........ Are you interested?

Bad feedback everywhere. And most likely it won't be in stock.

If you are near Toledo, The NR/CTPA (National Radio Control Truck Pulling Association) is holding its 25th World Championship truck pull October 12th &13th in Montpelier, OH at the Ramada Inn. You can see all classes of pullers. 200 some pulling trucks in one place. They are running a crawler class as an exibition class as well.
Many of the pullers do build and sell parts at the event as well.

I'll just say that what he said would take 10-15 days has now taken well over a month. He lies left and right and has horrible communication skills. He's cheep, but this is definately one of those cases where you get what you pay for...hopefully, maybe. If he decides to ship on the week he tells you he will, or maybe he will the next week. Then that week he might "lose" the package and mysteriously whip out another rolling chassis overnight and ship a "different" chassis the next day with the same tracking number he gave you three weeks ago. If you're lucky .

I am near Toledo, well in Toledo all the time, live in Michigan. I would love to go see the competition, unfortunately I work 2 jobs and chances of me being able to go are slim to none.

So that sucks about outlaw hobbies, I would like to get some stuff from them, but if that is the way they work I will not bother.

My club along with 2 other eastern Missouri clubs are putting on a big Tri-club pull in 2 weeks. Next summer we are going to be running a points series with 3-4 big pulls during the summer. Here is the flyer.

I'd recommend that you look around on various r/c pulling forums and ebay and try and land an Eliminator sled. They work great and are very easy to maintain.

R/C Pulling is a blast and the last couple years it's finally starting to explode in popularity. It's a natural extension of the scale 4x4 scene exploding.

There are some guys in stpa club in ohio that build top notch stuff. Chris Grady in Columbus. Chris smith in tiffin and I believe the other big guy was jake haulman from Urbana area and a few more. They try to pull once a month. Maybe hobbytown could get on schedule. They also pull at bowling green 1:1 national pull in august every year.

I am in the process of moving, so as soon as that is over with I am going to get started on building a sled.
