i fell i love with this truck on the very first post, 4 months ago when looneybin started the build thread. with every update it just kept getting better. well recently Daniel PMed me with the opportunity to own it. ive always had a fetish for these trucks, this was the best build to date, there was no doubt i had to have it. well today it showed up at its new home.

i thought the pics were amazing, they do this truck NO justice to the workmanship on this thing. wow. everything is so perfect, fit and finish, and the attention do detail is incredible. ive stared at this thing for hours and i just keep finding more. truely a masterpiece and amazing amounts of skill and time went into this truck. what i love is that it was all done with hand tools, yet looks and fits better than alot of CNC stuff ive bought.
i plan to keep the build going and hope to live up to looneybins level of excellence. i have a few ideas up my sleeve...

here you can see with the new katan axle that its a bit short on WB compared to the old WK axle. ill need to make new ones or extend these. you can also see the swivel spare mount.

here with the tires on you can just see the katan axle is 1/4" to 1/2" to wide with these wheels. gotta work on that for full stuff

plans are to personalize it, keep adding scale touches, and try to make it handle better.

Shoot, doesn't look like it would be too hard to move the rear lower arms back a bit to match the WB to that of the body.
Looks like that dash panel has quit a bit of work left for ya lol.

What length do your rear links need to be (eye to eye) to fix you wheelbase issue?

well i got the WB issue temporaraily fixed until i can get new links made. i added .9" to the links. however with the added length and shock angle, the truck could not support itself, the extra leverage could not support the chassis weight. so i moved the coilover to the rear position, but that wasnt enough, so i swaped to some harder black savage springs. that helped. it JUST rests under its own weight. but once the battery, motor, tranny etc are added it will need more. so ill have to address that at that time.

Can you flip the link around?

absolutly, unfortunatly would make it worse, would make the longer side rearward of the shock and give even more leverage. i was thinking about an internal spring on top of the piston of the springless shock. or move the tiny shaft spring(barely visable inside of the black spring) to the front shock.

you should be able to pick up those tiny springs from any hardware store

I remember proline I think used to make a ultra stiff spring for the t-maxx I wonder if something like that set up in double like a dual rate might work? Also VMG springs on the lower exposed shock shaft, the only issue is as it compresses you would lose travel.

not much of an update, but swaped the link extentions to get more droop, the long rod end looks dumb close to the axle though.
also got a few new goodies in the mail.

Gotcha. I'll soon be wiring up a light kit for my rock racer...

another mini update. got to work on it a bit today. getting everything reinstalled and tightened up for the first test run. still lack tranny and electronics.
