Well crawling is fun but I like going fast and breaking stuff. Being about 30 mins from the beach I tend to head out there once in awhile. So far Ive killed a TA-01, TA-02, and an RC10T. Well the RC10 held up but the rims didnt. I stripped 4 in one battery pack. Ive been wanting to build a rail for a bit so I guess now is a good time. Got started on it this week. Here is the first nights progress. I gutted an RC10T3 for parts, which you can see behind the chassis. You can also see the new aluminum rims that I got for this. Hopefully these wont strip. And then after a few more hours. Now comes the fun part of figuring out all the suspension and what not. What do you guys think so far? |

Not bad for a few hours. Some day I'll build myself a sandrail. No where to really run it here but they look so cool. Is that brakeline or solid rod. Looks welded?

Nice! I really like the design, it's not just your typical rc sand rail looking thing. |

Its 3/16" brake line. So far its just tacked with a Mig welder. The design is based on a real sand rail built by Sand Tech Motorsports. I liked the design so why not copy it? I guess a few hours is an understatement. I have a lot more time into the cad drawing and staring at pictures on the net to try and guess the dimensions. But doing the cad really helped in speeding up the actaul building of the chassis.

I just want to have fun with it and jump it. Not trying to break any speed records. But with the brushless motor I know it will go pretty good.

I want to try and get a full interior in it also. Now being a sand rail I basicly need a dash and seats. So I started playing with ideas on the seats tonight. I think I like the one with a headrest better. Id like to find something else to make the seats out of as I dont think this stuff will hold up. I was thinking about using these to make a mold and then make them out of resin. |

Looks nice I'd like to build a sand rail someday myself. I have an old RC10CE that I bought years ago in Okinawa, Japan. It might be time to build something with that. I'd use the seats with the head rest.......for those break neck speed runs! |

I live about a minute from the beach, walking slow and I keep seeing people building these.I think I've seen a 1:1 rail like your design,is it a 4 seater by chance?I'll be keeping an eye on this,I sometimes like fast parts breaking things myself

| Sand Tech Motorsports. Yep a 4 seater. After looking at a bunch of rails, I really liked thier design, so why reinvent the wheel?

Well a big update for today. Most of the week I spent looking at it or trying a few different arm setups on the rear. Finally got something that would work last night. Then today after some wheeling I decided to work on it for a bit. Totally lost track of time and spent a good 5-6 hours on it at the shop and got it rolling. |

Yeah this thing is looking great. Would like to see the blade front truck tire or a buggy tire in the front, might look really good. But so far this thing is amazing, keep up the great work! |

Yeah yeah those are not the front tires I will be running. I was going to order a set of these (http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXRSK1&P=7) over the weekend, but spaced when I placed my tower order. The rims are too wide to run a buggy tire. My buddy has been trying to convince me to cut the lips off and narrow the rims to fit a buggy tire but its hard cutting up a pair of rims I just paid $60 for. I might be forced to run on the second lip though as the rod end for the steering is hitting the edge of the rim as is. |
