Question Drifter question

I am looking to get a drift car that can also with a tire swap move like hell. I have been looking at the tamiya tt-01e chassis. Any help or imput is greatly appreciated. Coast is a bit of a deal as I am more of a realism builder and I know some of these can be moded to look real witch would be very ideal but if not I would rather not go nuts as I am not looking to compete and not sure if this is my thing so not sure if I want to invest big. Thanks

I have an associated tc3 and a losi xxx-s both converted to drifters but all I have to do is swap on some rubber tires and switch motors and it's a fast racer.

An touring car will work for your needs really.

as mentioned above, any hobby grade sedan will work. for speed you really just need one of the cheap $60 EZ-run brushless systems. I Have a tt-01D, It's a great starter drift car.

Question Motors

ok so why cant you use the same motor? Other than needing a faster motor for speed and yes I am a brush-less fan cant I use that to drift with? Again thanks for your input and help. Also what makes one chassis better for for beginners than another?

you can use the same motor but some people have differnt driving styles for drifting, some like fast other control

a beginers chassis is cheaper with less tuning ability out of the box but you spend more money youll have way more tuning options out of the box

i run a castle 6900kv sidewinder combo in mine, so if i take the drift tires off and replace them with rubber it becomes a rocket.

but for real control i run a simple 27t motor

TT-01 is kinda crappy. Gearbox sounds like a box of rocks, powerful motors will tear up spur gears (and the spur is special for the TT-01) and suspension tuning is very limited.
TB-03 D or R is a great car but drift and race uses different gear train. Drift is best spooled front and rear with a center one way where race is front one way and ball diff in rear. Not too hard to do either with either though.
I will only drift or race with shaft drive cars only because belts get chewed up easily with road grit and cogs get gummed up with carpet fibers.
I run Yokomo SD cars, Drift Package and Type C plus.

ive got a hpi sprint2 drifter 15t firebolt motor($12) stock esc/servo(blitz)
one way bearing mod for front belt/16% counter steer mod
a-drift tires for asphalt/t-drifts for smooth concrete.
2c lipo 5000mah battery

hpi cyclone tc
sidewinder esc/hitec 625mg servo/15t hpi firebolt/2c 5000mah lipo
66% countersteer mod.

if your just wanting to play around with a good base chassis that can be upgraded, go with the hpi sprint2 or cyclone. i havent tried the losi's or ae tc3/4/5. i have 2 tt-01ds and is what i started with. they have some aftermarket stuff that makes them a lil more adjustable than stock, but i wouldnt go any lower than a 22t-19t motor on them.

good luck and have fun!!

a good forum to check out..
