Watching this closely. Looks like it is coming along nicely.

This thing will be sick once its finished! Seems like every ones build i see just seems far to advanced for my limited skills.

Re: Scale Trophy Truck Build

I'll have to snap some new pics tonight. I have made a few changes.

I got some Vanquish products Twin hammers lower rear links, they look amazing but the shock placement on the arm limits travel to just over 3". I wanted 3.5" but I guess 3" is enough. Finally received my xxx-sct front bulkhead and tiebar. I think I can make them work with the Protrac arms. I cut the baseplate to the width of the Losi bulkhead. I also received a pair of RC4WD 100mm King shocks. I need to place one more Ebay order for some finishing details and then just get to work. I can't wait to paint it and finish it up.

It's just that darn Rally section on this forum keeps distracting me. I turned my Tamiya Zakspeed Capri TT02 into a Focus Rally car already and I've only had it for a week.

Sub! I've had this same idea in my head for years. I like the slash/hpi bit they're not trophy trucks. Def keing my eye on this thread!

And sick work so far$

Re: Scale Trophy Truck Build

I did a little work on the truck this morning. I got the rear suspension buttoned up. I have axial soft and medium springs in the rear (red and green) and 40wt oil. The bypass shock has the stock spring in it and a few drops of oil just for lube. It feels pretty good for a starting point. This thing is heavy! 9lbs so far. Those RC4wd wheels weigh a ton and this thing has 6 of them.

I got the front suspension mocked up. I need to do some grinding on the protrac arms to increase droop and I also need to braze some cage sections in for shock and upper link mounts.

I will be making side panels and using the Apache cockpit on this thing so none of the electronics will show. I am kind of getting the itch to work on this thing again.

Well I decided to dump the SCX10 gearbox and go with a SCTE-TEN 2.0 drivetrain. I plan to step up to a Mamba Max Pro and run 3s Lipos now. I have made progress on the front suspension, I will post up pics from my next mock up.

Nice build and nice to see people going after real trophy truck builds! Now if one of the rc manufactures would get their heads out of their asses and make something like this!

Re: Scale Trophy Truck Build

I think I made good progress on the front over the last couple days. I figured out how to get RC4WD rims to play with Slash 2wd front spindles, got the arms clearanced for long travel, swapped out shock ends for long travel and got the wheel base figured out.

I can't wait to finish up brazing and to clean up the chassis for paint. I have a ton of scale detail I am adding. I found a solid file for a Ford Coyote 5.0 engine and I am having one printed on a 3D printer at work. Guess I need to order up a Raptor body to go with it!

I got a few more parts in. I need to finish up my brazing on the front but am lacking motivation.
