Default traxxas rustler trouble

I think I may have just blown the ass end out of my buddies rustler 2wd with a 2s 4000c LiPo. It sounds like a gear stripped but I dont know much about tearing them down. It did the same thing before to him and he made it sound like its a simple fix, could maybe the slipper clutch need opened up and adjusted back into place? I dont know much about slipper clutches yet either, it seems like it wants to grab when turning by hand then it just lets go? I could use any advice on this thing

by what you described i HIGHLY doubt its the slipper clutch. sounds like you blew either the ring and pinion or the spider gears. the parts are cheap but you will need to tear down the rear end and take apart the diff to see whats broke for sure. hopefully the case is still good. if not those are cheap too. if everything is blown, then i would guess your somewhere around $40.00 to $50.00 but i highly doubt its all broke if you were only running 2s. there are alot of step by step videos about rebuilding the diff on youtube.
hope this helps.

If you can't muster up the cahones to tear into a Rustler, you should just quit the hobby.

Pull the right rear tire and gear cover, then look at the mesh and the condition of the spur. May need to replace the spur and most likely reset the mesh between that and pinion.

Take it from a Blitz owner I would be very surprised if you have destroyed the gearbox, (My Blitz has has copped a pounding on a 5000mah 3cell lipo )

It will be the Spur gear
Simple cheap easy fix

I google searched it and found this ( its that easy a kid can do it)

You're right. Let me rephrase that.

It's a sad day on RCC when someone with 100 posts can't figure out wtf is wrong with a Rustler.

Hey it's cool, I know it's kinda a baby question but I wanted any advice as I have never had to tear into these tiny trans cases before, all my nitro stuff was out in the open and at my finger tips. Duuuuuuuuude's constructive criticism is always welcome, you can be harsh sometimes but to the point as well, I knew somebody was gunna flame me but at the same time I knew I would get the help I was asking for from this site. No worries

Internally, a Traxxas trans case is very similar to an Axial trans case. Have you ever had one of those apart?

Not yet but thanks to the thread here and some pics and links I know now what to expect, and yes they seem pretty simple, and its not mine which makes it sketchier for me.

Just tear it apart and give it a go, and if you can't fix it.......throw everything in a box, give it back to your friend and then say you don't know what happened to it........it must have just fell apart.

Cheers,
Wade
