Default Exo Rescue

Been wanting an Exo for a while, but never seemed to have the funds available to pick up a nice used one when they came up for sale.

Got a chance to pick up this (very rough) Exo in a trade. Trying to get this put back together on a moderate budget. Found a bunch of old stock STRC stuff on eBay, and a few other things from AsiaTees, will be interesting to see how it all comes together (or not, lol).

Before pics...

Just started disassembly:

Pile of parts:

I知 actually working on doing something similar. The exo I picked up was well beat on and desperately needed to be ripped apart.

Good luck with yours as mine is at a stand still until axial parts come back in stock

What parts do you need? As you can see from the pics, a lot of parts are being replaced with aftermarket, so I will have a bunch of spares....

Awesome choice. Love the Exo. It rips and has great balance. Mine jumps like a champ.

A few more parts showed up, now I'm just waiting on hardware. Hopefully KNK's product lives up to the hype, because their shipping kinda sucks...

Clean Exo pieces...

Hinge pin mod done...

Mostly complete front end...

GPM parts are hot garbage. Every single piece has required extensive modification to fit. Thankfully they were cheap and I have a dremel...

The STRC stuff is pretty decent though...

Picture of the printed bushings next to the originals. Had to clean the holes slightly and they're about .2mm too small, but other than that they came out well.

Last night's stopping point...

Like you I知 also replacing most of the parts with upgrades. I知 currently waiting on parts to replace all 3 diffs with brand new parts from top to bottom

Nice arm inserts. Are you going to make them available on shapeways? Also since you said they are a hair small, did you change the sides on the circles to 60 as it will make it closer to the actual size.

Progress!

She moves under her own power. Need to dial in the suspension still and repair part of the rear cage, but it's mostly together now.

I little more blingy than I normally like, but unfortunately options for the Exo are fairly limited these days...

Yeah, I always increase the side count to 64 on my circles, I misplaced my calipers so I was eyeballing the measurements with a ruler.

I'll most likely put them up on thingiverse and shapeways, I'm not looking to make a profit off them, but people without a printer would probably appreciate the shapeways option.

I need to adjust the dimensions a tiny bit though... If I can just find my calipers..... lol

No, I found an old post on rcshortcourse.com from a guy who used to make them. Shot him an email and he still had a couple of sets. Also bought his last set of Wraith panels.

I don't suppose you have a link for these panels? You're like the 3rd person to mention them to me, but I can't find anything in active or completed listings...
