| New bright lighting build
It started out just like all other of my " builds" in my head of course. I don't have many pics of before, but I just converted the stock truck with a proper rx/tx, servo and esc, as it was just a roller. I like the black look, but mine is red. I am most likely going to paint the body satin black. Current look: Last edited by Gula; 04-08-2024 at 11:47 AM. |

Found this cool ford die cast engine that you can almost see under the hood: Looked at what I could use chassis wise, if I wanted this to actually be a cool build. I ended up using a hpi rs4 on road front end for its 0°caster angle in the chassis, as for the suspension geometry. For the rolling stock it's pulled from thed the old trusty HPI rs4 parts bin and slapped together a super nitro front end. I know, ghetto right? So, i plopped that fold 427 engine onto the front. Made a chassis from 1/8 aluminum. Band saw broke Cleaned up nicely The rails are made from 1" square tube And attached If you know anything about HPI, then you know og axial scx10 axle parts are a 100% compatible with hpi parts too. Last edited by Gula; 04-08-2024 at 06:16 PM. |

On the normal HPI front end the whole steering system and servo are behind the front tires. I switched this to make room for the seats It is also awd. However I dont want this to be 4wd wich i could probably get the gearing right for it to work properly. I decided for RWD only, but did stuff the front end with driveshafts, a diff, and internals. On the 5mm input of the front end I mounted a brake hub/disc setup using the old rs4 parts that are usually mounted to the center "diff" This now gives me the ability to do a front brake/line lock independently of the throttle/brake. I dont know about you, but anytime ive pulled the brakes hard on a RWD rc (slash, bandit, etc) they spin out of control and usually end up shiny side and rubber side wrong way! Roll cage? Hmmmmm, interesting Time for nawwwwwssssssss I mean It has the room, why not? Die cast engine up front. Partial interior, a roll cage, a huge 3674 motor or similar in the 2400kv flavor. I may take one of the diecast scx10 phat axle housings to add some weight to the rear. Oh front tires are Duratrax bandito 2.8 ST and the rear MT 14mm hex. I think i may try to stuff a tiny edf jet unit in there for 1 cooling and 2 the F150 Lightning is supercharged, so...... |

Love it! Been keeping an eye out for one for years for a build to match my 1:1, they are pretty pricey when they pop up. I have a 4 door 1/6 NB, but I got the point where I needed to hack up the interior and just didn't have the stones to do it. |
