| trick to folding bottom edge of body?
is there a trick to get a nice crease in the lexan so it doesn't hang up so bad on the bottom edge? Thought about using some kind of heat but don't want to screw up my paint. |

Just bend it. If you seek a perfect bend use a ruler or something that will conform to the body. I just hand bend them - its a crawler.

I'd be upset myself if it wasn't straight and even on both sides. I've used tape on the outside to mark it, then crease it carefully. The paint should be flexible enough to handle the bending/creasing. If you use something harder on the inside to use as a 'break', apply some tape to the inside to keep it from marring the inside. ..and it is a crawler, so if it does get a little dinged up.. its OK, too. |

I just did this to my crawler. I used my mapp gas torch and a cement step. I pushed the body on the step and applied the torch from about 8-12 inches away. Just swept the heat back and forth until it started to bend, then just held it in place until it cooled. Paint is still good and I was able to get it fairly even on both sides.

a weird bald kid once told me "dont try to bend the lexan, just realize there is no lexan" if that doesnt work just try to roll the panal like you would a newspaper or magazine. you endd up w/ a nice sweeping curve much better than the solid crease that can also get hung up at times . ive done this w/ great results |

I've hand bent all mine with no heat and they are all pretty close to if not perfect. No heat, no break, just your hands. Thats my experience

I prefer the hand roll than a crease (roll like a magazine). It looks cleaner and on rocks it helps the body roll out of the way vs getting stuck with the crease. Its easier to roll something that has already been rolled than roll something that has a crease in it. My .02 cents.

I like to use a little butane torch lighter. Apply heat then use whatever you want to bend. Hand, book, wood block, cylinder of some sort you get the picture. If you do use heat, just remember not to use too much or the body with shrivel up.

I used a heat gun a and the edge of a counter and it works perfect. My body touchs the chassis now and it bent about 2 inches up and stay well clear of the rocks. It works great!
