Lightbulb Making Paint stick better

Hey guys. Some of you may have read the write-up in Xtreme RC a while back about using Bulldog adhesion promoter to make paint stick better. Or to make a non lexan paint stick as good or better than lexan paint on lexan.
Well, I have found a better product. It's made by SEM and # is 39863 Plastic Adhesion Promoter. You can find it at auto body supplies. In fact, if you ask them for bulldog, they will probably recommend SEM instead.

I did some testing and have beat the crap out of a slash body and it is not cracking or peeling anywhere. Also beat the body on a table and ground, which should have caused some paint to peel. Also flexed it rediculously, and no problems.

Of course I already clean and scuff the body, so Im' not talking about paint not sticking for that reason.

Just wanted to let y'all know since I know most of us beat the crap out of our rigs

If you use Faskolor or Autoair, and prep the body good, the paint will not come off.

Ive never had any problems with any of my paint ever coming off. Giving it a good washing with a courser pad (I use one made for washing dishes) and a good backer is all I need. (I use mostly pactra and parma paint).

Thats why in my original post I said that I am not talking about normal prep work that we all do, or should do. But If you have had a 20' tumble down the mountain you were trying to climb, or bad 1/8 scale nitro crash, then you know that no amount of prep will will completely stop paint damage. But this stuff really helps and I tested it on lexan scraps ond on a body.

It is for inside or outside. It's perfect for those flat paint jobs so many of us like

The trick is to just apply one very, very light dust coat and let dry for 5 minutes. Then one full, but still light coat and let it cure for 15 minutes. The paint as usual.

Try it

The main thing about any paint sticking is the prep. I have been told to use Comet, you know the sink cleaner, with a scotch bright. Really, really hot water too. Make sure you rinse it very well. This will get off all the mold release, which is a big reason why paint will fail. The other thing is make sure you use light coats of any adhesion promoter. Always do what the can says. That's the other main fail point.

I am an autobody guy and have used the Bulldog stuff with excellent results but have heard great things about the SEM stuff too. On the paint forums I play on, there are alot of people who love that stuff.

Ive painted with faskolor, Spazstix, and kustom kolor and have never had any problem with adhesion. All I've ever done is the good old dishsoap scrub. Then I make sure to never touch it again.
