| Spare tire mount on a hard body
I have a New Bright FJ cruiser body. It seems pretty rigid, but I want to make sure that mounting a tire on the back would be safe. Its harder than lexan but not as hard as the tamiya hardbodies. I'm afraid that I might rip the spare tire off when I'm wheeling

You can put a plate or brace on the inside of the body to help. But like RS10 said, chassis mount is the safe way to go. More work, but it will hold up.

I did a spare tire mount on that same body. I used an axle extender and a couple of big flat washers to distribute the load evenly. Here are a couple of pics... This has held up very well. It is my sister's truck and she rolled it down quite a few times at the 2010 MSD Scale Nats... |
