Just Maybe.... I have a Dodge Megacab body on my crawler and I'm bored and I think the wheelbase is a bit short for a pick up... soo here's where you come in, I was debating on cutting the bed off and making a longer and wider flat bed for it, what do ya'll think? I've never seen it done yet... Here she is now... http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._8204549_n.jpg http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._4765855_n.jpg http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._7663357_n.jpg I've done this to a Chevy body before and It turned out awesome and crawled great... http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._6435975_n.jpg http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...2_945340_n.jpg http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._6299100_n.jpg If I do switch it over to flat bed... I'd use sheet metal instead of wood because wood doesnt match the style of truck in my opinion.... What do ya'll think? is it a go or no go? I'm also considering switching over to a frame like the scx10 and running scx10 shocks, I dont know about that yet though. |
Good idea i dont know how you would mount it, as one or two pieces. good idea though |
I kinda like the chevy with the porch on the back. I'm not so sure the crew cab will look as good. |
I would just make a longer bed, don't think the flat bed would look good |
So I decided to go through with the project... it's a work in progress now, but here is what I have so far... Gonna order scx10 shocks since I was originally running an ax10, and I'm making a new frame for a more scale look & easier cab/bed mounting & to make up for how long this build is. I also have to extend the rear driveshaft. Here is what I've got so far. Gonna eventually put up a build tread, but here's a sneak peek... http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._5181341_n.jpg Gonna make a utility like bed kinda like this (paint sucks for drawing up ideas) and it'll be made of sheet metal and the rollbar will be steel tubing or solid rod, havent decided yet. http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._1090432_n.jpg |
heres some motivation.. its not a mega cab but close http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/sh...uck-build.html |
First off, sweet profile picture. Second off, that is perfect, it might not be a megacab but it's helping me invision this more. Thanks man "thumbsup" |
im liking it so far, keep it up :) |
me to...seems different..... |
rollback wrecker or add some boxes, and make a welding truck |
Thanks guys, I just got done making the rear driveshaft today... took like 10 minutes. Next to be made is the frame, buy the shocks, & then make the bed... once the bed is made I have a feeling I'll be adding alot to it "thumbsup" I'm thinking this is turning out good so far. |
