solid color Jeep JK... I keep seeing JKs locally that are painted a solid color - flares and all. I'm getting ready to build a JK for myself and can't decide what color to paint it. What are your thoughts on the solid color (sahara, artic editions, etc.)? |
Re: solid color Jeep JK... i LOVE the colored top JKs. didnt realize the fenders flares were painted too. ill have to pay more attention next time. i like the road cone orange and metallic blue they have. |
Re: solid color Jeep JK... I couldnt decide to paint mine body color or not either when I started my build. I ended up painting them black, I figured it would look more like a trail Jeep. I haven't seen too many Sahara's on the trail. I think either way would look good though. Actually I ended up totally cutting them off in the end and did "tubed fenders" and I REALLY like the looks of that. I have seen a few builds where they cut the flares to look like flat fenders that looked good too. Mine black http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/...K/IMG_8087.jpg Mine w/ tubes(not painted ye) http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/...l%20JK/4-2.jpg |

Locally I've also seen one that's more of a sunset orange metallic (GM color) that's all one color. |
Re: solid color Jeep JK... audrey would LOVE a SOM JK. her WS6 is SOM the ones i saw were a neon road cone orange though. |
Re: solid color Jeep JK... This is the color I'm thinking of - I think Jeep refers to it as a Sunburst Orange or something like that but the ones I've seen have the matching roof, mirrors and all. SOM WS6 = "thumbsup""thumbsup" http://my.project-jk.com/data/500/me...front_view.jpg |
Re: solid color Jeep JK... They look good with painted fender and a black roof heres mine with Gen right high9 fenders painted black and the rears are cut down http://i985.photobucket.com/albums/a...n/DSC01374.jpg |

Re: solid color Jeep JK... I didn't say exact...just close...at least closer than construction come orange, lol. On a side note, I saw a JK last night that was all silver...thought it was a Benz gwagon at first glance. |
Re: solid color Jeep JK... I think I've decided to go with a solid charcoal gray...when the time comes :lmao: |
Re: solid color Jeep JK... I painted this gm charcoal grey for my buddy... We loved the way it turned out. "thumbsup" http://sphotos.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._1399898_n.jpg http://sphotos.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._8257745_n.jpg http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._6173348_n.jpg |
Re: solid color Jeep JK... Charcoal grey really does look good. This is one that I shot a while ago. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...1056-12755.jpg |
Re: solid color Jeep JK... you guys still have the roof and flares painted black...not all one solid color...but the charcoal does look good "thumbsup" |
Re: solid color Jeep JK... I painted mine before they started doing the solid color thing, or atleast I never noticed them at the time and I wave at and eye rape every jeep I see "thumbsup" :flipoff: I think charcoal grey is a color you will definitely be happy with |
Re: solid color Jeep JK... I wonder what it might look like if you shot it all in the charcoal grey, but gave the roof and flares a matte finish. I don't know, might not look right. Just a thought. |

Re: solid color Jeep JK... I'm kinda liking the charcoal gray a bit better... |
Re: solid color Jeep JK... Charcoal gray looks nice. Who makes the color though? Pactra? Tamiya? And is it spray or airbrush? Polycarb? |
Re: solid color Jeep JK... tamiya makes a rattle can gunmetal. http://img48.imageshack.us/img48/218...dfinished1.jpg http://img129.imageshack.us/img129/5...dfinished4.jpg |
Re: solid color Jeep JK... I am going to try a duplicolor wheel paint from advance auto...says it can be used on all types of materials, plastics (hubcaps) included. I plan on starting with the removable section of roof first so if it doesn't work I haven't screwed up the whole body. I've used the same paint on a set of tamiya hummer wheels and they came out great! |
