? for you metal panel builders. what resin and release agent do you use for your panel forms to hand form a panel there was a thread on here that showed the guy casing body molds for metal work but i cant seem to find it now. thanks"thumbsup" |
Re: ? for you metal panel builders. Hand formed panels are just that, hand formed ie hammer and a bean bag for most anything curved and snips and shears to cut to shape. |
I use cast for fishing lures and I was thinking something along the lines of finding guys who make the custom metal bodies making a press mold and cast a hard plastic body but its hard to find those bodies and people to let borrow them haven't worked any yet but going to make an attempt real soon so I don't know the exact properties and attitude of the materials but couldn't we just he the styrene to a flimsy sheet like state or panels and stick them to the inside of a lexan body causing a positive cavity to form a hard body of that particular lexan body??? or something like this with the lexan and use the alumalite original hard cast resin How to squish mold |

Anyhow, to answer the question, my experimentation with resin forming parts is minimal and admittedly a failure:cry: I used this stuff as a release agent. Mann Ease Release® 200 & 205 Product Information | Smooth-On I can confidently recommend the release agent I used because it was about the only part of the process that worked as it should have:lmao: The resins from that website worked pretty well also... If you make a decent mold:roll: . |
Re: ? for you metal panel builders. Not sure which thread you were referring to that you can not find, but here are a few.... http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/paint...y-forming.html http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/gener...g-resin-2.html http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/tools...mold-part.html |
Re: ? for you metal panel builders. I talked to thx my comment has no use here but my original was incomplete on my part I do a lot of molding processes. ..peanut oil or industrial thru alumalite products....before casting put layers of it on let it dry in between for best results if ur ising a metal compound for you're filling resin don't worry it won't stick..or at least iy shouldn't if ur using poly mold |
