It started life as a Dickie RC U300 body, I think.
With a custom quad cab.

Wow, that does look very close! Good call on that one! If that is the case he did an amazing job on the custom quad cab because I can't see any seams in it.

Looks like it could also be a carson's unimog with custom quad cab. I wasn't thinking about a custom cab.

you have to check places like toy r us or similar places. you cant buy it at a hobby shop. I used to have one I got in trade, also try e bay

Thanks for the heads up. Was at Toys R Us for 1.5 hours on Friday with my son... I looked! Our local store doesn't stock much stuff and I've complained to them before about it.

I'm keeping an eye on ebay but all the bodies that look like this one (with the large forward window that I like) are part of an RC and it is $230+ which I don't want to pay just for a body.

Bruder Toys makes some Unimog trucks, you can find them on Amazon and Ebay, etc. I've seen quite a few of them used for RC builds.
