| Body Identification MRC?
I have a body I am thinking about cutting for my crawler. It is kind of a beater but I really am not quite sure what it is. I got it with a MRC stadium truck a while back. It looks like it could possibly be a first generation S-10 or maybe a Dakota. Or maybe it is just a genaric pickup. I havent been involved it RC long enough to recognize it from"back in the day". |

It's from the MRC MT-10S truck. Ford looking with the 4 lights molded into the bumper. I actually have a older(4/95) RCCA next to the computer that shows it |

Take it from an S-10 expert, that it NOT an S-10. It does look a lot like a first gen Dakota.

I thought the bed looked kind of S-10 ish, the front not so much. Of course when I got it, it had stickers on the side that said S-10, so that may have disturbed my rational thinking patterns. Now that you mention it, I do see a hint of Ford look in the front. I think the Dremel is getting hungry.

Another Dakota vote here. I have had a couple of Dakotas, a 1st gen S-10 p/u and currently drive an S-15 Jimmy; that looks most like a Dakota with a little flavor thrown in from others. |

Thanks for the replys. The grill area does look like an early-mid 90's ranger a little. I guess it really isn't important, just curious I guess. The body has a few cracks and some deeper scratches. I probably won't repaint it, at least not the whole thing. I took the dremel to it today. Started dovetailing the back. I dovetailed it a little more than I had planned. But it is my first real body hack. I hope it turns out ok. I'm glad I decided to post this because now I have a "before" picture of it.

Use dot-3 brake fluid to remove the paint, re-paint it. Give it a cut or two and crawl it! Fawk what it looks like! |

Update: I did some carving on this body. I decided since it was my first real surgury that I would just leave the old paint so I wouldn't have anything to mess up. I will probably regret that decision sometime. Anyway. I trimmed the front bumper and attempted to mold it into a shape that looked like a bumper again, and not just a flap of plastic. I made a wood mold and tried to form it with a heat gun. It is pretty wrinkled from all the extra material, but I guess it is better than it was. I dovetailed the rear quite a bit. Glued everything back up with "Amazing Goop". I thinned some tool dip and brush painted the roll bar and bed area. It looked better before I dropped it on the sawdust covered floor. I need to get some sponsership stickers for it to cover up the blemishes. I'm thinking Amazing Goop, Dremel, and Plasti-Dip would be good choices. I think I will name it Oscar unless that name is taken. As in "the Grouch" (kind of fits my user name), and it has more plastic surgury than Oscar Night.
