| Any good videos out there for different painting effects?
Someone on facebook explained to me how they did one effect. Just wondering if anyone knows and good videos that show you how to get different effects.

I'd suggest watching some painting videos on YouTube,I mean there are a lot of helpful tips. I'm not trying to sound unhelpful, but a person can learn a lot by watching something being done easier than being told how to do it. Or at least that's what works for me.

And I forgot to mention that there are numerous ideas on here. If you're new to painting, just choose paint that works on plastic and avoid using high dollar model paint. I wised up and started using rattle cans.

They're rolling in my head...been custom painting for over forty years. I've done spot work for paint shops, how-to seminars for scale aircraft, and auto and motorcycle restorations. What kind of effect are you shooting for? I will say the lexan body is a different animal than any other type of painting due to adhesion and flex issues. But there are some good options. Automotive acrylic enamel can be used, improved with an adhesion promotor/flex agent, and an air brush. Liquid masks are all the rage, and there are a variety of different effects that can be done. And really, if you're going to be doing much custom work the airbrush is a primary requirement. The Pasche VL is a good budget option. I've done about a dozen bodies now but tend to KISS on paint, still using Tamiya polycarbonate tiny spray cans that are expensive as hell. LOL Going custom tends to run even more though - automotive acrylics can be quite spendy - $30 for a custom-mixed half-pint, plus reducers etc. This one got oem-match auto paint, but it's not very 'custom'. Fresh out of the 'paint booth' (garage) LOL |

I'm no pro, more of a shadetree painter, self taught using rattlecans and paintmasks. Your local hobby store may have a discount table with unsellable lexan bodies, (I found some at the local Hobbytown for $5-10 apiece) that I would practice on. Here's a couple of my SCT bodies | |
