| lexan paint idea (damage look)
hit me this morning as i pulled into work. paint the inside of the lexan body silver, then paint the outside the desired color, in my case id choose like a flat OD green. (or maybe primer for a under construction good 'ol boy look)then as the body gets used the od green with get scratched off, leaveing the look of scratched bare metal. (the silver underneith) anyone tryed this before? Last edited by STANG KILLA SS; 04-05-2007 at 09:07 AM. |

It will work... I've done it before with lexan paint on the inside and Krylon (?) on the outside.

This idea also works to hide scratches. Some people have painted the outside of fender flares and bumpers flat black, but painted the inside of those areas black as well. That way, if the flat black paint on the outside srcatches, it's still black underneath and the scratches are not as noticeable.

I've even thought about that for touring car basher bodies, and have tried to apply Dupli-Color Bumper Black to the outside of one TC body and Krylon Fusion Flat Black on a couple others. I learned that you need to leave the areas of the body Decals will go unpainted, otherwise the decal flakes off with the paint as it flexes or gets bashed. Here's the Micro Brew Hauler I painted for my Mini-T using the Krylon Fusion Flat Black and Testors "Chrome" | |

I've done it on both of my Punisher bodies. Silver inside and flat black cheapo Walmart on the outside. |
