| Clod body paint and body
I am about to build a clod body like my old cab truck 1:1. Here are some pics. I am trying to decide what version of my ol truck to replicate. The earlier was with a roll bar and lights and the black with silver SS stripes. The later is the dovetailed rear with inner cage coming out to the bed area and all. How would I mkae the SS stripes on the hood/ tailgate? Any tips on the dovetail if I go that route? Any other comments/ tips? I just got a hard clod body so its the exact same vintage except headlight configuration. Here are a few pics of the 1:1 And the later mods: |

good to see another ck5er here! the truck looks really good too! i vote for the latter, the dovetailed bed and the half doors and cage. the half doors would be really cool, why did you only dovetail the rear? front vision improvements are ridiculous and especially with your doors. or another option would be to begin its life as a regular pickup and then, mod after a while like a timeline or something.

if it were me, i would do pic#3 then you can evolve it to the tube truck if you want later. the stripes are pretty easy, just lay down your silver first, then tape out the design and spray black over it on the whole truck. are you looking to really get close on the replication of your truck or do you just want to to resemble it from a distance.

I want it close enough copied to be able to recognize it as my old black truck. If I were to cut half doors would it look gofy on the clod body? Can you get pre-made SS stripe masks?

i did it, the hole filling that is. what i did was fill it with a few sheets of plastic cut to shape and then i glued them in. then i covered it with a thin sheet of styrene and a bit of bondo. looks great, you cant even tell it. i also did the sunroof similarly. half doors would look pretty trick, but you gotta have an interior to probably make it look worht a damn. here you can kinda see, heres a pretty good recent shot of the hood: i am planning after this truck a K5 like my fullsize and im doing halfdoors cause i have always wanted some but cant cut up my pretty sheetmetal. if you have any questions dont hesitate. also the best SS stripes you will find are custom made with tape. shouldnt be that hard.
