Default My new rig....

So I traded my RC10GT today for something a little more my speed....a crawler

Introducing my new toy...it is a slightly modified PTI Goliath crawler, and man does it crawl.

So I have been crawling with the PTI quite a bit...found some issues I want to take care of, but having fun...

Finally ditched the poopy Imex tires, and hooked up some Axial beadlocks and Proline Hammers. I also have a HPI gear reduction unit on the way...

Next step is to drop that body down a bit? Those Hammers are gonna make a huge difference...

Dropped the body down tonight....I dont know why I didnt think of that before. As for the streach kit, we will see. I kinda like the wheelbase it has now. I may add the same Traxxas links I have for the rear lowers up front...That would put me a little over 9in.

Hahaha! I just bought this off of you! Small world. Looked mighty familiar... Cant wait to get into it though. So from where you left off do you have any suggestions?

PS- Would you sell me those tires down the line??? Let me know!

I am not sure what you should do next...crawl with it.

Maybe play with the gearing a little. When I first installed the gru I was running a huge spur gear and a 12t pinion...it barely moved. Now it has a 87t spur ans 20t pinion...I think it is a little fast, but it has some good torque with the gru.

Also I would probably do away with the cantalever suspension. Look at some of the rigs on this board and get some suspension ideas.

Other than that, I made this rig way better than it was when I got it...you will have fun with it.

Cool thanks man! Your right though I should try it out first to get a feel for it. I saw a lot of the post went with the 12" extension. I might just make that my next purchase. I realy dig the Axial bead locks you put on there!

The beadlocks look cool, but the Masher tires that are on the PTI now work better than the tires mounted on the beadlocks.

Haha cant wait to try it. Anyways I think I might try two mods.

1. Metal Gears
2. 2.2 conversion

If this goes well then I will purchase a 3-channel and do a rear stearing conversion.

When I first got it I noticed it needed the 2.2 conversion to do the bigger obsticles. I am %75 done with the project but am waiting on a replacement part... I will let you know the results when I finish. All in all it is a pretty looking crawler and I am happy with it.

Im a personal fan of shorter wheel bases. It does cut your climb angle a bit, but its well made up for in steering and overall clearance. I run my stock axial in a droop and with the mounting in the closest holes. I do run the batt in the stock location :-P the clearance and steering benefits make mine handle some obsticles that my friends much more expensive rigs can't handle. Like curbs or any application similar to that. I will soon put a small lipo on the front axle instead of the six cell on the battery platform. If your PTI can handle moderate climbing grades, and you like clearing rocks or edges, I think you should stick with the shorter wheelbase.
