I bought a Associated Pro Rally

Just bought a nice used 1/10th Associated Pro Rally

I was looking at a Associated Pro SC Truck roller, and the only difference between

The Truck and Rally car, is the body's and the front and rear bumpers

And I got a good deal on the Rally car, the Truck was more money cause there was no body or tires and wheels and electronics, the Rally Car needs a charged Lipo, and its good to go

I can covert it too a short course truck in the future, if I get tired of the Rally car body

Here is how I found the Pro Rally as I pulled it out of the box

There is a section in the drivers side rear corner where the previous owner

Took a pair of scissors and cut body, all they did was make it worse and rip and tear more, plus it shifted during shipping and smash the corner even more

I test drove the Rally and I got caught on a brush pile and spread open the passenger side of the body and it will not go back into form

So the passenger side of the body doesn't cover the chassis, so the body is trash

I found this Proto Form PFRX Rally Cross body that fits Pro Rally chassis

But I can't paint or have the skills to evenly place stickers, so both sides match

Should be a fun car. I have a ProSC and it's a blast on 3S. Watch out for the drive cup at the back of the center drive shaft. Mine wouldn't stay tight even with thread locker on the set screw. I ended up machining a new cup with 2 set screws and all is good now.

Hey HoosierClod

I really don't like the oversized Rally body, and if I bought the Proto Form Rally body, I would have to trim the body to be able use my 2.2''/3.0'' Trenchers and Bandlands and Street fighters and stock rear EXO tires

And after looking at the short course truck bodies, I like the look lower profile and would not have to trim the fenders to use the Proline tires and wheels

Can I ask due you break a lot of body mounts, I read the truck ones, break more than the Rally ones, maybe the oversized Rally body, deflects more of the impact

I would like buy a Short Course Truck body and the set of SC front and rear bumpers and a set of the Sway bars sold for the Rally

Put sway bars on my EXO and they help the stability at higher speeds, and they were cheap

A little shoe goo will do the trick on your cracked wheel well.
Grab a drinking straw and put a blob on it. Roll the straw across the crack and let it cure overnight, it will be bonded very strong.

You can paint black some lexan and weld a patch with the shoe goo as well and fill the gap.

The earlier version on the ProSC was the Prolite and they were known to have weak body mounts. The ProSC mounts are more flexible. I did break 1 of my body posts after a hard landing so I made some aluminum posts.

Hey dshy

I was going to use shoo goo and drywall lathing tape, and make some repairs, and was going fill in the missing body section

Used some black duck tape and it filled it the missing section, and it doesn't look that bad for a temporally patch, so I could test drive the Pro Rally it would not get worse

It did roll over and flip cause I pushed it a little, but after the passenger collision with a brush pile the whole right side of the body stretched and will not close back in towards the chassis like was before I hit the brush pile

A stick went over the right front wheel and down the passenger side of the body and now there is a gap and it won't go back to form

So I will just have to buy a lower profile truck body and call it good

Re: I bought a Associated Pro Rally

You might try heating the body with a heat gun and see if it will go back in shape.

I like the Short Course Truck body better than oversized Rally body

So I bought a stock painted one and set of the front and rear bumpers and with front and rear skid plates

And a set of front and rear sway bars

It going to have the Rally platform with a truck body

Re: I bought a Associated Pro Rally

I also ordered a new 47t spur gear and the slipper pads for the clutch plates

Already have 2 14t and a 16t 32p pinions, so I don't new to order a new pinion gear

Nice work on those mounts, they look stout. The truck body will have more of a scale appearance to the exaggerated hatch any ways. What is the ride height of this?

I got my sway bars, installed they were pretty easy to install

And like how the red on the Proline Bead Locks pops, looks like a Racing Truck with the Street Fighters

Looks good. Do yourself a favor and reinforce the body to make it last. I didn't do mine and it got trashed quickly. The new body is lined inside with strapping tape to hopefully help the body survive.

I got the front bumper and dropped the body posts down so the there is no holes showing, I don't think I want to go any lower but I think I can go one more hole lower maybe

The grill looks better with the body lowered, but I can still raise it the body up too run the Pro Line 2.2''/3.0'' Street Fighters and Trenchers and Band Lands

I'm going to reinforce the inside of the body and if it rubs too much, I can raise the body up, so one hole shows on the posts

I also got the new 47 tooth spur gear and new slipper clutch pads, not sure if I want to tear it down to change the spur gear and pinon

After I installed new bumpers and sway bars and got the new body and its looking good

How do those deadlocks hold up to the torque and speed?

I found a set 2.2'' Proline Road Rages wheels and tires in my parts pile that come from my Nitro Traxxas days, they lower the truck quite a bit and clear the steering knuckles

How does the sc900 perform? I see you've got the older version of the prosc/pro rally... Does it overheat a lot?
