Sven's 4-TEC 2.0 Rally Hi there, my name is Sven. I'm new to this forum, but not new to RC :) Been racing/bashing RC cars for over 10 years now. Since i'm into rc rallying and this forum seems to be most active in rally topics i decided to join and post my build here "thumbsup" I own multiple rc rally vehicles: Traxxas Rally 1/10 (the 'Slash' version) Kyosho DRX VE Tamiya XV-01 Long Damper spec HPI WR8 Flux Aaaand.. the Traxxas 4-tec 2.0  I choose this car for some reasons: - Part support is great in my area - Raised front bumper - Solid chassis - Sealed driveline So now the build :) First thing to do is cut away parts of the chassis so the suspension arms have more free room https://myalbum.com/photo/g715tLZiR6Hv/540.jpg And some grinding on the front arms to create more space for the C-hub https://myalbum.com/photo/irCouJii4bZR/540.jpg Difference stock vs modded https://myalbum.com/photo/SKbUWJ8dDVVa/540.jpg The increases ride height made that the steering rods hit the chassis, so this part also needed some cutting/grinding https://myalbum.com/photo/5ROQLmtKrKW9/540.jpg The stock shocks are short with not much stroke so I ordered some longer ones  https://myalbum.com/photo/X1aa6hkUk2iA/540.jpg No we have some more ride height! The ride height is actually al little more than my XV-01 long damper ;-) https://myalbum.com/photo/To7f09WjYn5k/540.jpg The chassis bottoms out before the shocks do! Perfect for not landing flat after a jump ;-) https://myalbum.com/photo/5XrIGUXsPlsG/540.jpg I ordered the Traxxas 4-tec sway bar kit, but due the increased rideheight they hit the drivecups.. https://myalbum.com/photo/2Ch9KRCuvS2D/540.jpg Some bending on the sway bars should solve this. Stock vs bended :) https://myalbum.com/photo/nswiD2D3Tcyj/540.jpg Problem solved :D The sway bars work perfectly now https://myalbum.com/photo/S4e1MU3AiiG9/540.jpg How it is now  https://myalbum.com/photo/gsCLbqHJgYcs/540.jpg https://myalbum.com/photo/2fJkQqu6eeys/540.jpg Next to my XV-01 long damper https://myalbum.com/photo/gLi7lPKdnaEC/540.jpg https://myalbum.com/photo/6JqUiexNqlyw/540.jpg https://myalbum.com/photo/IUJ9ER7jxJqj/540.jpg https://myalbum.com/photo/mfMLKiZhbxPp/540.jpg https://myalbum.com/photo/E391JS6VwQWx/540.jpg |
Re: Sven's 4-TEC 2.0 Rally Hi, What kind of damper and tires do have it? Do you have any more update about it? Ready with body? Are you satisfied? |
Re: Sven's 4-TEC 2.0 Rally Very nice I’m building one into a rally car also , I love the way this car handles which chassis do you like better the xv01 or the 4 tec. |

How have the shocks held up so far. There's a few bad reviews on them... |
Re: Sven's 4-TEC 2.0 Rally Holds up very good! Like most Traxxas vehicles its very 'bash-able'. I have been rallying and bashing pretty hard and still holds up fine. A lot stronger than my XV-01 which i always feel i have to be careful with. The XV-01 is more scale like, but for more out of scale superfast fun/bashing the 4tec is definitely better! The shocks are pretty good now, upgraded them with x-rings instead of the stock o-rings (which leaked pretty bad). |
Re: Sven's 4-TEC 2.0 Rally I hate to sound like a broken record, but... If you have time, could you check if a wheel with an inner diameter of 1.72" or 43.7mm would clear the suspension components? I am thinking these 1.9" x 21mm wide wheels would make for a cool retro rally build: https://www.asiatees.com/getpic.php?...=22026&large=2 With these tires (Height: 93mm or 3.6 inch - Width: 24mm or 0.94 inch): https://www.asiatees.com/pic_large.php?id=110257 I know the tires will be tall, but I will just need to find a body that I can hack the fender openings up a bit... |
