Unnamed rally car project (1/10) So, decided to build a 1/10 rally car with a center differential and belts instead of shaft. Did some thinking and drawing and ended up with this. Based on a Xray XB4 high volume differential. Put the diff case in the lathe and removed the bottom. Made a new out of 6082-T6 aluminum. Used a diff cross pin from Xray X1 so the bevel gear axle could run through the differential. The concept worked. Re: Unnamed rally car project (1/10) Version 4 of the differential since the first 3 wasn't long enough. Had to "make" a new spur since Xray don't have a 87T for their differentials, only for their slippers.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...11942756d1.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...ac1ca29424.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...1122cdc92d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...3e7d64572c.jpg Skickat från min AC2003 via Tapatalk |
Re: Unnamed rally car project (1/10) First batch of belts came. So cool to be able to just make a phone call and order the belts you need for a fraction of the price Tamiya or any other brands charge and have them delivered 2 days later [emoji108] Only problem is that I ordered too short rear belt [emoji58][emoji58][emoji58]https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...f27a94d7b6.jpg Skickat från min AC2003 via Tapatalk |
Re: Unnamed rally car project (1/10) Moving the servo to the Center of the car requires a new part for the steering. And since I can't buy what I need, I had to make one [emoji854] New on the [emoji118] Old on the [emoji117]https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...bd68a8e92e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...8ae898a366.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...495999e575.jpg Skickat från min AC2003 via Tapatalk |
Re: Unnamed rally car project (1/10) This is what it looks like today, it's too wide at the moment so I'll have to manufacture some differential mounts so I can use the XV-01 suspension mounts instead of the TA-06. The differential will be mounted on the suspension mounts instead of the chassis to get the clearance needed for the XV-01 suspension arms. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...a0fd5029c2.jpg Skickat från min AC2003 via Tapatalk |
Re: Unnamed rally car project (1/10) Wild man. Some out if the box thinking going on here. Is the center diff still sealed? |
Re: Unnamed rally car project (1/10) Yes, sealed and filled But I might have to make a fifth version, not entirely satisfied yet. |
Re: Unnamed rally car project (1/10) Just found this thread, very interesting project! What has happened to the car since the last post, is it completed? I would love to see and read more about this kind of car building. |
Re: Unnamed rally car project (1/10) Curious on how this will end |
Re: Unnamed rally car project (1/10) Me too. Any updates? |
