Shooter shackle question.

Just got in a couple sets, threw them on front and rear, but I'm realizing that they aren't going to help much in front without some longer travel shocks. Anything you guys suggest as far as shocks while still using the stock shock mounts but still getting the added benefit of the extra down travel the shooter shackles provide? Also, anyone install them up front and notice lots of extra movement on the front axle? Seems a bit too much.
Thanks for any help!

Re: Shooter shackle question.

I haven't put the shooters on but using scx10 shocks and shock hoops improved the suspension a ton. I got both items in the classifieds. I couldn't get around replacing the shock hoops but at least the scx10 ones are cheap compared to the gelande ones.

I've got a few of each, maybe I'll go that route. I'm trying to keep it as "stock" as possible, as I have other trucks with a lot more articulation. Just trying to dial in the suspension on this one. I may just take those off and run it stock.

Re: Shooter shackle question.

I went through a progression of mods in my thread and documented step by step. I'm very happy where I ended up (T-boxes and shooters front and rear, unsprung 90mm Emulsions in front on Gelande hoops, unsprung 100mm Emulsions in the rear). Here's a link:

Also check out the TF2 guide that is stickied here. There's more setup info there, as well. Good luck!

I jumped thru some changes as well..
Scx hoops in the front, 90mm scale shocks F/R.
Shackles on the rear..

I ended up with scx shock hoop(F), scx shocks modded for comp crawling (mini silver springs and jeepindoug cups) (F/R) with shackles in the rear.

Once was a shelf queen, now a Troyota..

Coming from more of the comp crawling side of things, I'm pretty impressed with the rig and how it handles itself on the rocks.

Guess I have to keep a look out for a set of scx10 shocks I have the hoops already lol

Been through all the TF info posts numerous times, and your different builds, and I think I've decided i'm going to run it stock and break the leafs in and adjust things slowly from there.

That's a good approach and essentially how I got to mine. Good luck and let us know if you need help along the way.

Re: Shooter shackle question.

Albeit I am over all really pleased with the performance of the stock TF2, this thread motivated me to get some scx10 shocks and hoops to try. They just came in the mail today And cost me about $20 Total.

I want to keep this truck as scale looking as possible, but would also like some better performance up front.

I am also researching Gmade shocks but I know nothing about them.
