Default 540 Noise

I upgraded to 540 motors and metal gears. I was wanting to ask the guys who have made the same mod, is it ridiculously louder than it was before and is it supposed to be?

The 540's on y other rig are a good bit louder and a lower depper sound. Also might want to check your pinion to gear mesh, that will make it loud as fawk if they are too tight.

Did you put different pinion gears on it, or the ones made for the RS10. The RS10 gears are a metric pitch and wont work with most pinion gears, even though they look like they are 48 pitch. Ran into that on problem on mine. Drilled out the stock pinions to 1/8" and quiet as can be now.

Heres a thread on it Pinion 38-48 pich?

I got the metal gear set from ZNO so it came with a 10T pinion, i just drilled it out to 1/8. Maybe they are to tight though i will check it out.

I cleaned it out very well after i dremmeled it down. I am thinking about using jb weld to seal the housing back up and packing it full of grease to see if that will help any.
