Default I wonder ?

What would it do if you stretched the springs you have a bit then cut the extra length off so were the proper length again ? I think it would soften them but it would maybe make them less stable side to side ? Just a thought.......but dont take my word for it......it may F your stuff up

That'll stiffen them up. Without changing wire size, the farther the coils are from each other the stiffer the spring gets and vica versa. A springs will lose a little of it's rate as it's used and ages but I'm not sure how else to reduce it.

That's the best way to get soft springs. I have found almost all of my springs on toy rcs. Both internal and standard. Any time I see a kid pushing a broken rc around I offer them a few bucks for it. I have amassed a nice collection of hard bodies this way and the kids can buy something new. $20 for a scale body, shock springs, hard to find small screws, and tamiya connectors for adapters is a good deal for both of us. I generally dont use the tamiya plugs but you never know who may need one .

well, i tried this, and coming from air soft, i know that if you left the spring compressed in the airsoft gun, the spring would become very weak over night and over a period of time.

So, i tried this, by compressing a set of really stiff springs, that i was going to use on my XR-10. what i did was make this jig.

I left the springs like this over night, and i noticed they became instantly softer.
