| Question about Motors
Hi all, Greetings from australia. I recently bought a HBX Rockfighter which is the same as a RS10 and i have a question about motors. Many ppl on this forum have said that the Banebot 395 12v motor is and excellent replacement motor. My qusetion is, if this motor has a voltage range of 5-15v with a nominal voltage of 12v, how is this better than the 380 motor which has a range of 3-12v and a nominal voltage of 7.2 volts?? I should also state that i am running a 5000mA 7.2 volt battery pardon my ignorance but rc electronics is not my stron suit. cheers Dave |

nominal range just means that is where the motor performs at it's best. the bane bots are made for 12 volt environments, where the stock motors are designed to work with the stock 7 volt packs. you can still run your 7.2 pack and stock ESC with the banebots and you will see an improved performance, muck like the one you saw going from NIMH to LIPO. Or you can put in a better ESC and a 3s (11.2 volt) LIPO and tear some $&%^ up. The more voltage you put through the motors, the faster they will turn and the less clod stall you will see. remember the stock ESC is rated for 8.4 volts, most of us have gotten away with running 9.6, a few have even gotten away with 3s though i wouldn't tempt fate unless you had back up on hand.

Docwolf hit all the highpoints. I've got both sets sitting on the bench right now. The BB motor is just better made. I'll get around to posting up photos of the two at some point... |

I chose the banebot 390 over the 395 , mostly for the higher stall torque. From what I've read the 390 has better torque and easier on the battery. Where the 395 has more wheel speed? Should have them tomorrow or the next day so I'll let ya know how much of an improvement over the stock motors ( I think mine are 380s) On 2s lipo.
