| Axle upgrade question?
I've had my Rs10 for about a week now. I've done a tire upgrade so far. What's the part number for the steel gears for the stock Rs10 axles? I'm finding several and I don't know which is right. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Tapatalk |

do you really want to increase the weight the motor has to overcome? I have only heard of one gear getting torn up and that was because a screw dropped inside the gear case. if you go with 540 motors then maybe the steel gears might be needed but with the 390 motors there is no pressing need. in my opinion. be better spending money on wheel wideners to get a more turning clearance and more stability sidehilling. good servos are more important though it seems the newer rs10s come with beefier servos. |

I could wait on gears I guess, but I love fixing stuff. my servos don't say if they are steel gears. Wheel widners is on my list. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Tapatalk |

Traxxas Slash universals, axle mounted shocks, droop setup, weights in wheels, Holmes Hobbies 400 motors (540's take too much modification), and I could go on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

moving the shocks on to the axle housings is a good thing to do as TD said. look at the pictures in the gallery. there are a couple of examples of the housing mounted shocks work on lowering the center of gravity. maybe trim up the chassis a bit, lower it a bit, work on bending lower links, maybe making links. a wheelbase of around 13.25 to 13.5 " seems to work for me at least, for climbing steps and such. 3/16" aluminum rod, revo large rod ends, 10-32 die and tap, and you can make any link you want metal servo horn make all the rod ends use 3mm balls - either swap out the balls or new rod ends ( with new links? haha) |

Shock mounted on the axle 12.5 inch wheelbase. New shocks are on my list. Also I use a lot of 8-32 for my links then make nice ones later. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Last edited by ThrashingDragon; 12-03-2016 at 08:36 PM. |

Wow, I gotta lot of work to do. Glad I'm retired or I might have to retire just to work on the RS10. Going to mount new tires tomorrow, order wideners, start lowering after that. Looks like the ESC needs to be lower anyway. Its sticking way up there where it could get damaged in a bad rollover especially if the body wasn't on. I'm working on a VW body just for kicks. Jeep Rubicon will be next. Thanks guys for your tips. Can't believe there's no rock crawling track around Louisville. Guess I'll build my own.
