Default Softening the stock tires

Has anyone tried softening the stock tires on the rs10 or Everest using either or both of these two methods? 3 Ways to Soften Rubber - wikiHow Seems a shame to have to toss the stockers due to lack of performance. Maybe with softening, siping, and partial de-lug going we could get better performance out of them.

rubber is just not good enough, all those things will help some but not enough
to really make it worth the while. a set of white dot rovers can be had
for less than 40.00, or panther leopards, or sedonas, if you want traction.
if you want scalar looks then there are many options but not really better traction.

running the rs10 with no foams did pretty well, removing lugs helps in rocky terrain, siping
helps in wet, sanding down the side walls would let the tire conform around rocks better, rub
dish soap on the treads to make them stickier on dry rocks, might as well cut and shut them
and narrow the wheels. wide wheels/tires are only good for sand, everything else needs tall skinny tires.
need to choose tires for your terrain and maybe have a different set for different terrain.

Yep, what cabron said. When I was running my RS10, I ran the stock tires for quite a while. I tried a bunch of different things to try to get performance out of them, but what worked best was getting rid of them for better tires. A side by side comparison on the same rock runs...I could easily clear runs with Rovers that I couldn't even come close to clearing with modified stock tires. It's worth the money.
