I am learning not to throw anything away..got an action figure off ebay for 99cents and used the 2 legs packs for the trailer and the backpack I used to create a "medical pack" for the Unimog.

With a little imagination you can use just about anything to make scale stuff.

There were a few used Co2 cartridges laying around, so after a little head scratching this is what happened.

Cut the bottom off of one, and trimmed the neck a little bit on both, then got out the scrap styrene....

Had enough to build a little tool cart.

Winch Line Bind

http://i1098.photobucket.com/albums/...CHLINEMEME.jpg

I know I'm not the first one to have this problem, and I know I'm not the first one to come up with a solution. ALL credit for the idea goes to chino63 "thumbsup". Couldn't really find a thread like this, so thought I would post one up.

This is the delema

http://i1098.photobucket.com/albums/...87820D6183.jpg

Your winch line pulls over the edge of the spool, between it and the gearbox, and gets so bound up that the only way to get it out is to disassemble the whole winch. This can be a huge pane! I even damaged my line trying to yank it out, so now it had to be cut shorter. MadDogRC sells a 3racing winch upgrade kit that is awesome.

http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/scale...re-scale*.html

I would have bought this if I didn't already have most of the parts. Couldn't justify the $24 for just the piece of plastic that chino63 makes. So I made my own.

http://i1098.photobucket.com/albums/...879186AA2B.jpg

I looked around for some packaging from anything that would come close to the thickness between the gearbox and the spool, to "fill the gap". My stock honcho lexan body came close, but I wasn't too quick to cut that up. I ended up using the bottom of a butter tub "I can't beleive its not butter." Cut it to shape, cut the hole for the gearbox shaft to go through, and put winch back together. "thumbsup"

Not sure if "scale accessories" was the right place for this. A winch is kind of a scale accessory, but can also be a necessary tool, like say, a tire.

Having a working winch is cool! Having a winch with the line stuck 2 feet out, not so much :lmao:

The moment you bind your winch line you'll wish you'd done it. I kept going on thinking "it hasn't happened yet, I'll be ok...." WRONG

Re: Winch Line Bind

It kept happening on my winch also. I made a shim out of a scrap piece of lexan I had laying around. Since then It has not bound up so bad that it could not be pulled free without disassembling the winch. This is definitely a great mod.

I think the problem is also the roller fairlead is to wide allow the line to run off of the spool.
