Scale dimple tool

Yes, the easiest way to make a scale dimple..
Using :
- 8mm Deep Socket Nut Bit.
- 6mm flat countersunk screw.
- 6mm drill bit for making hole.
- Any size vise needed.

Socket nut, screw and drill bit just my preference, you can choose your own favorite size.

The cons is the sheet will slightly bend, I still need to figure out to make more flat.

Amazing!!
Maybe try heat so it only bends at the simple? Soften it up? Maye thicker sheet too?
I really like this technique!
The dimples on the enduro sliders always make me with they were real.

Re: Scale dimple tool

I did similar on a bumper I made a year or 2 ago, but instead of using a socket, I made a counter sunk hole in a piece of wood as 1/2 of the die with a 6mm countersunk bolt being the other 1/2. All you have to do then is put a nut on the bolt and tighten it down to form the dimple. It still distorts a bit, but even using machined dimple dies in a hydraulic press, my 1/4" plate distorted a little... nothing the press (or in the case of the thin materials used in rc, a ball peen hammer) couldn't handle. Works on lexan too!

I was using a my made 3Dprinted dimple tool but not working good. So then think about using this screw, result is really good.
It can be straighten out by bend here and there, it's more work but not much. I haven't tried with heat but it sounds interesting.
