Great idea and good looking work. I have used balsa for quite a few things in the past other than rc planes and when saturated with CA becomes pretty durable and when sanded and painted you can't tell it's wood, but never thought of crafting a jack from it. Yep, I'll be making a trip to the hobby store in the morning. Thanks for the idea and like samson_simpson, my mind is running wild with ideas now, should'nt be hard to carve/sand out a fire extinguisher, jerry can, etc....., LOL. See what I mean, will have a whole work list by morning.

Talking thanks to all !!!

Like beachbum said, when the balsa wood is saturated with CA becomes hard like plastic, and even can be very hard to sand, so the durability is like if you have an object made from a hard, solid plastic, but very light weight... this was my first attempt to do something in balsa wood , but for the next time i will first PRIME the balsa wood, sand it and then paint it, because the wood kind of absorb the paint, and then, like i did, you will have to paint it at least 4 times...

thanks again
and sorry about my english...

I was thinking of making mad stuff out of balsa, this proves it can be doneI had a hobby store in my city go out of business and I waited til they were closed then talked to the construction guys and the let me clean out the balsa and basswood in the store for 4 cups of coffee.I think I have enough wood to build a scale house and garage for my crawlers.
