I have started another project I will probably never complete. Anyway, I am surprised I haven't seen one of these yet... So what do you get when you cross: A Parma Hemi Coupe 2 Body (painted flat black), Maximizer beadlocks, and Badlands MT's (with some white paint), along with Mad Force axles and tranny, CEN driveshafts, custom chassis with droop shocks and a few tricks? I am thinking something like this: This will be my build thread... just be patient... I work really really slow! In fact, besides ordering parts, this is all I have done so far: That diff is LOCKED, baby! I am going to have so many questions for you Kyosho gurus! |

Hmm, interesting. Don't worry about being slow. It takes me a long time to do much too.

Here are some pics of the mockup process - I am further along than what is pictured here. I have been experimenting with a few ideas and last night I made up some frame rails and the firewall. The motor and 2 speed planetary came out of a $90 B&D Firestorm Drill. The motor is made by Johnson Electric Motors. I think it is this model motor: http://www.johnsonelectric.com/media...&IdProduct=455 The MF tranny will be mounted to the end of it. Much work to do... |

Thanks guys! So tell me, who is the go-to guy to have the tires and wheels narrowed? I have tried before, but I just don't have the patience or skill. I think I want to take about 1-1/4" out of the front wheels and about 5/8" from the front tires - and maybe even try to deep dish the rear wheels. Thanks for any and all tips!

Wow, you've really taken what I thought wasn't going to look all that hot and turned it into something pretty cool. Nice job

Actually yeah, my house is completely destroyed with parts laying everywhere - EVERYWHERE! I have aluminum and plastic shavings all over the kitchen floor. Basically, I made such a big mess I am now in the middle of converting one of my bedrooms into a hobby room so if I ever meet any girls I can invite them over. But I made some frame rails. I mounted the motor and planetary to the firewall, mounted that to the frame rails, made a motor mount/crossmember for the frame rails, and secured the servo for the 2-speed. The guys at Extreme never got back to me about narrowing the wheels and tires and that needs to be done before I can get the steering done... so progress is as slow as I expected, which means I am on schedule! |

Using old drill motors is an old school way to get a slower motor that puts out decent torque. That was way before we had so many motor options like we have now. Interesting build you got going here Creep. I'm anxious to see how it performs. | |

| OH CRAP! Are you saying this needs to perform too? I was just hoping to finish the damn thing! I'll post some progress pics today.

Tires are too wide, wheels are too wide, axles are too wide. The steering servo will mount on the driver's side of the firewall to accomplish this look: The chain-driven t-case is still in cranial development. I think I will use two small sprockets to maintain ground clearance. I am hoping to dye the trans case red to match the wheels. Or I might add silver leafing to make it look like tarnished chrome. I don't know the gear ratio yet. Don't care just yet either. Not shown are the Revo shocks I may use - they are super stiff but short and without springs they flow really slow still so they may work great as a droop shock with just oil if they were mounted further back on the links. So that is the plan for now |

Some really neat ideas going on here. I like it. Looks like 2 shortside axles would get your width where you need it. Cut-n-shut them wheels and tires and your golden. Maybe try buggy badlands up front, they are skinny. I know you'd have to buy new,but this combo might work great and fit your build better..... Rear tires....30 Series Badlands Front tires.....1:8 scale buggy Badlands |
