Default SCRC Lockport Comp

I just want to make sure everybody knows where to go for the Lockport Comp coming up on July 19th. I went and checked the area out today and I'm not completely sure where the comp will be held, Jeff can you point out the area on the map? Also can you confirm the spot where we will meet?

your Park here arrow is spot on, if you just extend the arrow across state street you have it. Basically there is a trail that leads down the dam and then under state street over to the area of the tracks. Thats the only area they would let us use... Plenty of rocks but last time I was there the rock moss was insane but it comes right off. Ill try to get there early so that I can set up some courses.

I will try to get there early (maybe 11ish?) to help out with moss removal, any type of tool that would be useful for removing the moss?

I have a little kiddy rake but, honestly the stuff comes right off, your foot or a pair of gloves will most likely be the best tool. We also may do some rock stacking so we can use some of the boulders for the 2.2's.

Sounds good for relocating boulders etc. You think this area will be suitable for Supers? I may have a new rig put together by then, I'm sure I won't be able to drive it worth a hoot if I do get it together, but gotta start somewhere.

there are a couple of 18"+ verticle climbs and come pretty good gaps. Im sure we will be able to figure out a super course.

I'm shooting for 11ish, that new 355 expansion makes it a breeze to get down there.

We have pretty strict rules that if you arent on GSM you dont crawl while the comp is going on no matter your channel.
You'll never be ready for a comp, no one ever is. Come down enter and try your luck, wouldnt be the first time a first timer won. If nothing else you can bet on how many gates I make it thru before I break (Im calling 4 right now )

Ced/Josh, Im thinking 11ish maybe a little after. Im packing a lunch like last time so I have no problem staying the entire time. I would like to keep people coming to work before the comp limited so we dont attract too much attention. We have all the permissions and stuff we need, i just dont want people seeing 10 guys moving rocks and call the cops and then have to deal with that.
I have already got 1 course figured out, should be pretty easy but it has about a 6' climb up and back down that may prove difficult for the higher COG trucks.

Sounds good for 11ish (shortly after), I will be packing a lunch also. We can lay low if necessary, hopefully there won't be too many people around that area, from what I remember people seem to stay up in the park more.

You should definitely try the comp, there's no pressure, we're all there to have a good time. Nearly all of us are beginners when it comes to competition rock crawling.

If people are coming from my area (Streamwood), I am willing to "car-pool".

I will be there at 11am-ish.

I will not be packing a lunch. I will help setup....then grab a snack locally.

I am very much looking forward to this comp. I have to practice....maybe Sunday. I need to practice patience. The truck is fixed from my self-inflicted carnage from the last comp.

I may be interested in carpooling, I will give you a call at some point to discuss. If you like Italian style deli sandwiches I recommend Genco (almost across the street from Speedway) there in Lockport, or there's Sub City which is good too, both on 171 (State Street), on your way to Dellwood Park from the North.
