| Proffit's Cruisers Big Tex done 2.2
[Disclaimer: I blame RCCrawler and the Scale builders for this sickness. The Fun Buggy IS still being built, Big Tex is being started while waiting for Fun Buggy's frame to come back. Thank you and hope you Enjoy] Another one started. My goal with this one is to bring it as close to the original as possible and keep it Scale Comp capable. Ive seen a few of these frames built already and they have looked great, for me though they've missed somethings that bring them to match exactly. Call me crazy but yeah I like the challenges, expecially starting another one of this level while still working on my first one. Well Ive really picked up a likenss for the FJ bodies so this time I wanted to do an older Landcruiser build. I found Proffitt's Cruisers and chose Big Tex. So heres where it starts me now that I know what Im building ............ Scale is detail and well what can I say, Im hooked on this part. GM 350 couple of styrene sheets to widen the motor bit glued with tranny cut off hmmm Hollow? Ahhh and we see ...... time for my oil pan gasket pan test fit little GM orange and some build shots this week is laying the frame out and getting things measured up. its gonna be a slow build done in between the Fun Buggy work. |

Ecoli did a great job on that frame, its what gave me the push to get mine going early. One big difference is gonna be the rear suspension. Im gonna use the inverted leaf springs like the 1:1 uses. I used the engine from a Monogram 1/8 Corvette model works great for 2.2, just a bit big for 1.9's Last edited by Robbob; 10-14-2009 at 01:42 PM. Reason: edited ebay link |

Your the one ! ... I saw this build a while back and lost it (the thread, not the plot, lol). Your resposible for the teardown and rebuild of my build. All good dude. Nice rig, gave me a few new idea's that made me rethink my build. |

didnt get much done today on it, had a local GTG so was out all day. Did get my rear spring stops done with a little twist of my own idea. Seeing that the rear doesnt use sprung shocks and relies on the leaf springs for ride height control I decided to add to it, a away to adjust weight bias/pitch. now i can control ride height in the rear and use the coils upfront to level it out. im also thinking i can help control weight bias by changing chassis rake, lift the rear throw more weight forward and vice versa. thanks for watching |

This one? Still in the air on the rear shocks, gonna be springless so possibly some TLT's turned down. got my link material coming this week so once those are made I;ll have a better idea of fit. | |

What made your decision to go with full leafs rather than 1/4 eliptical? Is it impractical for 1/4 eliptical in a scale rig? I had ordered some elipticals from Diaz on here before he started screwing people and taking there money without sending products...so I never got the delrin 1/4 springs to try on a build like this.
