| My Emaxx Crawler Build
A good buddy from the traxxas forums has built a inexpensive crawler, less than $150 minus the emaxx itself. And I plan on doing the same. He helped me out with the parts and as soon as I get them, I'm starting. Picked up a couple of traxxas spools, du-bro heavy duty ball ends and traxxas (2) 3.3 shafts. To make the links, I got some 8/32" threaded steel links and I'll be covering them with some 1/4" aluminum tubing. And I'll be making some perm. shock link mounts from some scrap aluminum as well as the chassis. Here is a pick of HIS final build Mine will be looking somewhat similar to his. To is an ongoing thread as I will be adding more and more pics. |

Here's where I am at now. for the moment, I'm just going to use the stock chassis until I upgrade later or build my own. the titan's will be replaced by some lathe motors once I get this running. I cut out some bigger openings for the drive shafts since they didn't fit. And will clean up the area later. I have threaded steel, ball links and aluminum tubing for the links and will be building those soon when I have a break. the height of what it might be, maybe a bit lower, |

from the looks of it great start, how much ground clearance do you have on the chassis? |

Well I have imex krawler tires on a stock trx rim, so them plus about 3", so I'm guessing about 7-9" of clearance for the chassis, plus I'm going to fab up some skids for the shafts.

I am a member here but I haven't been doing much crawling lately. Looks like your off to a good start. Something you might want to add is the metal brace on the back of the bulkheads. This takes some of the strain off the shock tower mounts. |

very nice build bro, I'm doing the same thing with e-maxx at the moment, but I am making a tube chassis somewhat and going out from there. hey, what size of threaded rod did you use on yours to make the lock out bars and how long did you make them? sweet build bro |

8-32 steel threaded rod the links from the arms to the mount are around 2 1/8" long, then an extra 1" or so for the ball ends that are threaded on | |

I'm interested in seeing how you are going to mount up the shocks and links to the stock chassis. I've been thinking about this for the last day or so and the only way would be to have the chassis way up in the air or build brackets.

well i got the axles done. dont adjust your monitor!!!! my emaxx IS upside down to hold the shot and hold it together since there are no links yet. i will be crawling near thanksgiving! w00t+ steering is next, then links, then adjust minor things like the camber i have of the rear wheels, a bit too much negative camber. :P |
