Parking for Comp 8

Just wanted to try to make sure that everyone sees this to reduce confusion the day of the comp. The road that we normally park along at Falls Park is closed during some construction right now. As a result we will need to park in the parking lot behind the County Square building which is next door to the Governor's School. DO NOT park at the school since they are having an event later that day.

The coordinates for the lot I'm talking about are: 34.842446,-82.403185

So I take it we can still walk down Howe St? Otherwise I have no idea how to get down to the comp site from there.

You'll figure it out when you get there. If they have the end of the street blocked off I'm sure theres a sidewalk or steps that lead down from the School lot.

You can also park behind mellow mushroom. Howe st is blocked off, butt if no construction is going on i see no problem walking down the street. Its a mess!!

The parking lot I posted is not the one behind Mellow Mushroom...it's behind the county government building. If you click on the link to the map you can see mellow mushroom is off to the left. At the time we get there in the morning this lot should provide the closest parking...in other words the least walking Not to mention the lots behind Mellow and those places are very busy which just increases chances of someone dinging a door, getting backed into, etc.

Negative there not to crowded behind mellow mushroom with all the work goin on. The walk will be about the same. If you park in the county lot you'll have to come in from the backside.

You must not have been paying attention when you've left previous comps. Those lots constantly have people coming and going from them. The county lot is on the way in just the same as the others. Let's see if this helps clarify things...the map below shows the following:

Red Circle - Parking behind Mellow Mushroom
Red Path - Just 1 of the ways to get to the parking behind MM using Main Street.
Blue Circle - Parking at the County Square building
Blue Path - The way I come in using Church St to University Ridge to Howe St. Just about as simple as it gets without messing with Main St.

Yellow Path - Walking route from either parking lot to the area we use for the comp. Path from the County lot is shorter

If you use a GPS and enter the "8 Howe Street Greenville, SC" address it will take you to the round a bout...can't get much closer than that

I won't argue that. I'm just saying it might be easier for those coming from the upstate to just park there. Its easy in and out. I was there at 10 and hardly no one there. Just be prepared for a walk either way and bring the least amount that you don't wanna have to haul back out.
