Yup you need three channels. I used a tq3 radio there cheap. You wire a switch to the rear motor and use a mini servo to turn on the switch. This disrupts the power to the rear motor. I attached a mini servo to the top of my rear servo along with the switch. Plug the mini into the 3 channel slot. Flip the third channel switch, disrupts power, rear locks up a bit and you have cheap Dig. There is a much better description, search for dig switches, or something similar. I got the idea from here and it works.

You break the black wire with the switch. To do this you will have to make up some jumper wires of the correct length and gauge. Mount your switch where there will be room for the servo arm to engage/disengage the switch. Tie one end of the wire you broke down to the switch. Run your jumper from the other side of the switch back to the motor. Make sure you use the "normally closed" side of the switch when wiring it up. Now, your 3'rd channell will kill the current to the motor. Radio shack has these micro switches for around $6 or $7. Good luck

Search for "micro switch pics", once there look for the front and rear dig on 1 channel post. Several good pics. Also, i forgot to mention the Punk RC dig or 4ws module. They claim it cam manipulate yer esc to have dig or 4ws on a 2 ch setup. Kinda pricey though. I'd stick with a tq3 and the aforementioned micro
