Default Swapping clod ?stub axles?

I tried to search around a bit for this but did'nt come up with anything. Has anyone tried to swap out the stock clod axle shafts (the one the tire screws to and the dogbone inserts into)? I thought that maybe they could be changed to another style of Tamiya shaft. The style with the pin through it was what I was thinking. It seems to me it could be done, as Tamiya offers a lot of other styles of these shafts. This would allow a wider variety of wheels and tires to the crawling scene. Just a thought and maybe a stupid question. I might get around to trying it soon. Who knows? :?

You might be hard pressed to find a axle that is as long as the Clod Buster, maybe the original blackfoot axles BUT you also have to find axles with the correct diamter for the bushings, they are larger in diamter than a lot other Tamiya shafts.

Why don't you try Thundertech's CVD's? :

Or the straight axle? :

It was just a thought. Very early in the morning I might add! I had thought about Blackfoot rears but have yet to research more on them. As for the bushing/bearing problem, that could be solved by getting some different sized bearings. I'm sure they're available on ebay. I was kinda curious if it had been tried yet, considering people seem to like the "cheap" and "simple" mods!! I still might get around to it.... Oh yeah THANKS for the replies guys!

The clod stubs are 6mm diameter and the blackfoots are 5mm. I believe the only stubs that will interchange are the TXT's which are approximately 3/16" longer.
