Question Hustler Flex?

As I put my Hustler together I am coming to the conclusion that there is not alot of flex built into it. Especially with the shocks to be used.

Is this correct?

My Geko II has alot more flex. I was expecting more flex out of the Hustler.

You are correct the hustler was built to not have a ton of flex. The geko will have more flex. More flex isn't always better.

Just suprised, especially now that I put the internal shock spring in, the shock stroke is less than an inch!

Comparing a Hustler to a Gecko 2, is like comparing apples & orangutan's...

If you keep your center of gravity low enough there is no need for a ton of flex just let it float.

Building my shocks now.

Associated's #1 shock pistons have a pair of .050" holes. I used some carbon rod from Midwest to plug one hole in each piston.

Question

Anyone else put this thing together and think that the recomended shocks are to sgort in the front? The back works great but the front there is a 3/8" gap between the top of the shock body and the mounting eyelet, and the front upper control arms rest on the front of the frame. Just don't seem right.

Can you not move the shocks further back on the control arm in the front to take up the gap and lift the chassis off the uppers.

Nope, the shocks are already set at the closest spot. Any farther back and it just makes more of the shaft show.

Do you have any pics of your set up? I havn't heard of any other problems. Also what shocks are you running? How is your lower mounts set up?

I set mine up with the links touching the chassis. It seems to work the best when ride hieght is as low as possible.

Are your lower links mounted to the bottom holes of your axles?

thats my guess where the 3/8" gap came from.......

Nope, they are mounted to the top hole front and back. I fixed the concern I had by striping a pair of stock maxx shocks for the front. Fits perfect now.

I don't know what the size is, I'm at work and can't check, but they sent them along with the Hustler due to late shipping. I assumed they were for the Hustler. Maxx shocks measure out about .25" longer than what they sent, and fit well for the front.
