| Full droop NN
I have been watching the full droop rigs closely and wanted to see if I could get it right. Not wanting to drop the cash for the Hustler, more like not having the cash to drop, I have been working on gettin my NN set up with full droop. So today was mt first time out with my latest setup. I think I got my setup pretty close. My rig performed better thn my full sprung setup on most obstacles. My belly clearance is around 2.75" at rest and extends to around 3.75" when fully extended. It seems to be very stable. Some obstacles have t o be approached differently, but I think after getting used to it, it will out perform my full sprung setup. On to the pictures. lowrider |

thanks for the comments. this setup does seem really stable. my driving style and line choice seems to have to be rethought a bit. good side hill with the low COG, but on some off camber cornering situations the rear inside wheel seems to want to go airborn. this takes some getting used to but seems to be solvable with use of rear steer leverage. oh sh!T wifey is calling. out .

I like that alot. I'm guessing it uses internal shock springs of some sort, since you can't see any.

internal springs only at the moment. i may try doing both internal and external to experiment. 60wt oil is being used right now. I will post pics of the springs later today. i got them at the local farm & ranch supply store. i think my local ace hardware has a bunch of different springs as well. i hope to get more testing in today. we have a comp coming up in one week and i need to get this dialed. edit: back from a test at the over flow river spot just off old town ft. collins. this place is a good test of the full droop setup belly clearance. there are loose rocks, holes, and sharp edges everywhere. i was impressed with the way the rig was able to slide over the rocks. there was more contact with the belly and links. on with the pics. the shocks are just 4" Associated shocks from a T4. the internal springs are from my local hardware store. I will post a picture of them when i pickup another set. my local ace has a drawr full of different springs to choose from. i picked one with a spring rate that felt right and ended up cutting it to length. my NN seems to perform better with this full droop setup. it took alot of experimenting to get the shock position correct. it seems important to get the shocks to stand up fairly straight. also the spring rate was important. i tried softer springs at first, but it made my rig floppy. |
