Narrowing clod axles?

I am building a version of awesome kong using a clod chassis and blackfoot body. I am going to shorten up the wheelbase which is pretty simple but the track width is a little too wide. Is there any way to narrow the axles? I need the tires to just come inside the body. Maybe 3/8 on each side.

I would try to change the offset on the rims narrowing that axle would be a pain because it would need custom axle shafts but the wheels would be rather easy

You might could find someone with these laying around.

I have some in a box but clod stuff doesn't seem to bring enough money to make it worth digging out.
