tamiya bruiser CR-01 i popped this on the end of my bronco thread, but thought i would start a new one so peeps didn't miss it... just got a toyota bruiser shell off ebay (big thanks to crazy4tamiya great service, crazy fast shipping and a free grill!?!?!). it's not quite a hilux like i wanted, but this looks sooo good on the CR-01 i think. just gotta get the grill mounted and i'm good! the pics are just on my home made rock pile in the back yard. Cool body man. You can put some 1.9 wheels on it now too and it would still look good |
yea, i was thinkin bout that, would make it way more scale and could drop the body down a few notches too. |
Looks awesome, fits the wheelbase much better than stock. |
|
That looks awesome! BTW you running weights in your tires? |
thanks TC, yea, i am running 2 strips of sticky lead rim weights on each from wheel, and half of one on each rear wheel. i am going for a trail run with my buddy this afternoon, sun's out so there should be plenty of pics. |
just installed the 3racing bent links, great purchase! super inexpensive and they help out heaps getting over tall obstacles. got away in the forest for an hour yesterday. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4001/...8ca493dd_o.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4034/...ecffc7d8_o.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2677/...afed9c51_o.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2770/...188e4a36_o.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4029/...9b8905ac_o.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2750/...623fa0dd_o.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4055/...2cb3083c_o.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4060/...c6c6e4bd_o.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4018/...9ccdcf82_o.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4025/...3cb70ae6_o.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4053/...94e4f907_o.jpg |
dam i am bummed i couldn't make it out! looks like you had a lot of fun!! |
quick question: what's the difference between 2.2 and 1.9 tyres? thanks |
Just checked Ebay on crazy4tamiya body bid is now $120 Grill $46 |
???????? whoa, i think i seriously lucked out at $50 including shipping for the body, windshield and bumper....... regardless he is a great seller, $120 is way too much. the hilux body is attainable though |
so i painted the hideous blue servo, matte black, and popped on a solid plastic servo arm. i am LOVING the 3racing bent links, great pairing with the 3racing barrel springs. few new pics, got a new spot. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2791/...0067a266_o.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4052/...9a58ed74_o.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4022/...367ab87f_o.jpg also a video, be warned terrible quality! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuSjuZsCRls |
my old skid plate was getting quite mangled from the zip ties breaking and the aluminum catching and folding back, so decided to try a new one, i wasn't too concerned with the diff getting bashed, just having the steering linkage protected from blows. so to create a stronger plate out of the thin aluminum i had to work with, i eliminated any unnecessary bends. here is what i came up with. i suppose a skid plate is created to protect the diff, but i just wanna protect the steering. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2730/...260f7b94_o.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4040/...752dfbc0_o.jpg also showcasing the next colour for the hilux, light sand, OEM 70's and 80's colourway. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4003/...8ac6af36_o.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4060/...e82866b7_o.jpg also made some new scale items to pop in the back: a sleeping bag, bungy cords and flannel blanket. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4019/...d53d99b8_o.jpg |
the new skid looks good. that bruiser is fairly bruised after your last lot of photos. |

ah, they work for me, thanks. |
good point, but they are weighted differently, plus those blasted 20 screws per wheel.... also, a bit silly that they would make crawler tyres directional, you'd think you'd need equal grip forward and reverse.... thanks for the compliment on my rig, i really enjoy it! |
