| My new Skid-plate- Revision 2
Hello all Just finished my Jeep CR-01 build and I'm trying to build as many accessory's as I can. Started out with a skid-plate that I made at work using the Junfac design. So here are some pics IMG_0905 by RKirouac, on Flickr IMG_0911 by RKirouac, on Flickr IMG_0917 by RKirouac, on Flickr IMG_0912 by RKirouac, on Flickr After looking the design over and someone mentioning that reversing might cause hang-ups I changed the design a bit and added a rear plate. This is what I came up with. IMG_1190 by RKirouac, on Flickr IMG_1186 by RKirouac, on Flickr IMG_1194 by RKirouac, on Flickr Here's the rear plate IMG_1184 by RKirouac, on Flickr IMG_1185 by RKirouac, on Flickr IMG_1199 by RKirouac, on Flickr IMG_1197 by RKirouac, on Flickr I also wanted to run a bigger battery but still use the stock battery tray cover without using velcro. I ended up making some aluminum post that are a little longer with 2 holes for adjustment. IMG_0928 by RKirouac, on Flickr IMG_0927 by RKirouac, on Flickr IMG_0926 by RKirouac, on Flickr IMG_0925 by RKirouac, on Flickr Thats what I've got done so far. Any suggestions for stuff I could make would be great. Last edited by cr-01; 05-26-2011 at 07:26 PM. |

great custom work, only thing is that skid plate might bend...is it aluminum? good thinking with the battery posts!

Thanks, skid-plate is .050" 304 stainless steel so no worrys of bending. If it gives me trouble I'll cut a thicker one. Only thing I wish I did different was to extend the plate under the axle and back further. I have the template on cadkey so i might laser cut another with a longer bottom.

oh man, stainless steel! strong! i agree with the need for more length after the axle, it might get caught on reversing out. VERY cool, thanks for sharing, keep us updated on the performance. the hardbody looks great!

Yeah |I never thought about reversing till it was already made. I'm gonna cut 2 more with a longer bottom and see how they work.

If I can get enough interest for let's say 5 or more I would make a batch. Interested? I could hook you up with the first one. I'll PM you some details.

What I'd like to consider is a skid plate in the middle that's shaped so the truck doesn't get stuck with one rock under its middle plate, with all four wheels spinning helplessly. Maybe a convex plate so the truck will slide off of it and bring the tires to the obstruction (rock)...

After a hard weekend at the beach I've found these plates to work awesome. Lots of protection and cause no hang ups. I can see the axles would get wore down quite quickly without them. Next up some rock sliders for the sides and maybe a central plate for the middle |
