| TLT axles
K guys, its getting bad....I have one more RC car and parts of another crawler coming, I was in RC along time ago and had 3 cars...I just thought I would get a crawler and I would be happy...apparently I need to have more than expected...and that's ok. Anyway I have TLT axles, stampeed trans and some type of frame coming from ebay..don't know what the frame is..but what I want to do with this is make it a basher, no climber just drive fast and jumps. So my question is how do you unlock TLT axles. Once I get them I will have more information and I can take them apart and see if it was glued or what was done with the spiders...I don't even know if it has spiders. What I want is something that can corner tighter (at high speed) than my axial. thanks in advance |

well... I always lock my axles with JB Weld, which is not reversible... I've heard of people using hot glue to lock diffs, and to reverse that, I believe you just pick out/ clean out all the glue... I've heard of locking the diffus using the "3rd gear method" which I have no experience with... I probably wasn't much help... but that's all I know... |

I have always used the "3rd gear method" except that I use 4 gears, since I had extras. It's easily reversible and doesn't weaken that stud when you only use three, the place where the gear used to be. If you had them 6 would be the strongest.

You'll have to wait and see if it's JB weld tour going to live with it or buy new parts if it the 3rd spider gear out of place it's easy.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that the stock TLT diffs (unlocked) are still available... maybe try RCP?

Just to let people know, these work fine in the TLT axles. Also if you drill a hole in the case (have to mark very carefully) these gears come with a lock pin. Little black screw next to pinion. Just plug with another screw and its set. thanks again for your posts. by the way, contacted the PO and the person before him used super glue....one of them came apart and I tried to pick the crap out....counldn't do it.... that's what I thought...I'm going to use the lock screw that came with the kit..just might by a second one and do the rear axles as well. I like the aspect of being able to lock and unlock with out taking the axles apart.. | |
