| TLT Jefferson 2.2 Lower Link and Shock Help
PF and others with Jefferson Chassis, I need your help. I got my chassis assemble and my link conneted to the Axles. I'm using the suggested parts give by PinchFlat. My tires are Pro-Line Moab 2.2s on RC4WD Narrow Beadlocker Rims. My problem is, my front tires are rubbing my Lower Links and Shocks when I turn the tires to the Left or Right. I don't have wheel wideners, and prefer the narrower wheel width. Is it possible to move my links and shock inbound on the mounts at the Axle and chassis? Will decrease preformance, and strenth at the Axle Mounts? Example... x = Shock & Lower Ball Link - = Mounting bolt |_| = Mount Current Set up, look down from top at Axle Link: -|_x_|- Center Diff -|_x_|- Questioned Setup: -|_|x- Center Diff -x|_|- |

You certainly can mount them in your questioned setup with no problem. You could also use longer stub axles or wideners and leave the mount as is.

While the Jefferson was designed to use spacers, yes you can move stuff around like that. Make sure you test for binding and such during articulation. Kaetwo runs his shocks to the inside of the chassis so he can run narrower. This will reduce the rubbing on the shock quite a bit. Just make sure the shocks can move and pivot freely on both ends of the shock when articulating. I personally run the set-up shown on the sheet with G-Made wideners and narrowed (outside and inside) HPI rims with 2.2 Moabs or Masher 2000s. Also as mikhail said, you can use a wider stub axle. This will help a bit by adding only about ½” total width (1/4" each side). The way I recommend setting the chassis up on the set-up sheet is the easiest way to get up and running. Please feel free to tweak your rig to your hearts content. Besides tweaking is the fun part. -PF |

I've run narrow, moved stuff around, and/or left it alone and rubbed all the paint of the links and laugh as my springs spin as I turn. I've run wide with G-Made wideners from thecrawlerstore.com, set up as PF suggests. Back and forth. I like the PinchyFlat set up the best so far. I've also tried some different battery set ups, and again, have gone back to the three sub Cs on each side. What PF suggests works dang goot. |

Thanks Guys, I'm going with the suggested setup from PF, I found, when I run the shock on the inside of the mounts, there was more binding in the suspension then I liked. I will just have to buy some wideners from the Crawlerstore. Thanks again for the help... I hope to have pics soon. |
