Default Scale TLT trail rig

I got the axles built Wednesday, and the last of the parts I needed for mockup came yesterday, so I tossed on the shocks and made lower links to set the WB an here's what I got:

Today I cut out the body and found the WB was a little too short, so I extended the rear links 1/4" and trimmed the body some more:

Up next:

Cut up / paint the chassis
Paint the body
Make the links pretty
Narrow the wheels
All the other misc stuff

thats gonna be a pretty cool little trail rig....

i would presonnaly mount the front steering servo on the chassis .... ya u get bump steer but i have always liked how that looks on a trail rig.

And here's the body painted. I'm not sure yet if I want to tint the windows or not.

Yup, they still work great, if you get the right foam in them and the sidewalls hold up. Narrowing the wheels from the inside also allows for a necessary widened stance. I assume that is what he is doing.

The wheels are 1/4" narrower than the tires; taking the inside lip off would narrow them another 1/8" or so. The tires are pretty close to the chassis / links is the main reason I was thinking of doing that. I may narrow the chassis first tho; might be less work.

If you narrow the chassis you will have an easier time mounting a tranny. What are you going to use for a tranny anyways?

Actually I'd like to use a TXT tranny, which is the same inside-width that the chassis currently is. That way I won't need a gear reduction; just stick 9T / 12T pinion in there for 45:1 / 56:1 gearing.

Here it is back together with the suspension all done:

I'm getting a band saw tonight so I'll start work on the wheels, foams, and steering links. I want to see if narrowing the wheels will help enough with clearance before narrowing the chassis since the TXT tranny is the same width as the chassis.
